CITÉ DU NOUVEAU MONDE

CITÉ DU NOUVEAU MONDE

64 St-Paul Ouest    Montréal (Ville-Marie)

At the end of the 19th century, Paul Ménard Galarneau and his partner, who already had a building where they sold fabrics and haberdashery, decided to open their horizons and build a 4-storey building to make their warehouse. After several years in the neighborhood, Alphonse Racine, owner of a wholesaler of fabrics bought the building and added a floor in 1910. In 1933, Alphonse Racine ltée merged with two other companies to form Greenshields, Hodgson, Racine Ltd. They occupy the building for thirty years to finally leave the building. At the beginning of 2000, the building was redone to refurbish all in luxury condos with indoor parking.

Now named the city of the New World, this building includes 49 elegant units, several shops including the Scandinavian spa (private access to the owners), the Art Gallery LeRoyer and Verses Bistro.

Since 2012, this building is protected under the Cultural Heritage Act
